Paul said: "We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things
which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the
things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)
God wants us to see that the foundation for all things, finite and infinite
is His eternal existence. He has made provision for us to experience the
eternal that we might fully experience Him in the finite. He is interested
in revealing the truth of His own existence. He wants us to experience and
understand the essence of existence. God is not limited by His infinity nor
by the fact that He manifests in
the finite. God wants us to be partakers of His divine nature. God desires
a dwelling place on earth. Jesus prayed and declared the Father's will:
"
I in them, and You in me, that they may be made perfect in one; that
the world may know that You have sent me, and have loved them, as You have
loved me." John 17:23
We know what God is looking for; therefore we have set our eyes upon the
goal of His high calling in Christ Jesus. He is preparing sons and daughters
in His image and likeness. He is preparing a people who will overcome "by
the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony" Revelation
12:11 God is building a dwelling for Himself, a building made of living stones
"a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:5 It is a temple "not
made with hands." God has drawn us by His spirit and He is preparing
us as a bride adorned for her husband. We have attuned our hearts and minds
to wait upon the inward and full appearing
of Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time. God, who is
the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will do
this. When I saw the nature of His life it caused me to give up on myself.
I saw that I could reckon myself crucified with Christ. To live; and yet
not I, but to acknowledge and experience that Christ lives in me: and that
the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 I saw that
though I had been made subject to vanity Christ was delivering me.
"In
Him was life; and the life was the light of men." That was the true
Light, which lights every one that comes into the world."John 1: 4,9
The identity that we are looking for is in Him. It transforms us as we seek
to know Him. "And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal
life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life; and he
that has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto
you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you
have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God."
I John 5:11-13
He is the foundation of our existence. God is in one mind,
and who can turn him? And what his soul desires, even that He does."
Job 23:13 He has determined to have a people who will serve Him and express
Him. A people established in the truth of His existence and essence. We
are interested in His essence and in His manifestation. We can see how the
Spirit of God works in our midst to bring about transformation
within us. Each facet of creation gives expression to that aspect of glory
that God has imparted to it. The sun shines; the moon reflects the glory
of the sun; the stars can be seen in the evening sky and show times and
seasons. The tree provides leaves for shelter, and brings forth fruit for
food. Trees praise God by providing wood, and birds by singing. We were created
to manifest and show forth God in the earth,
"And the earnest
expectation of the creation awaits
the manifestation of the sons of God." Romans 8:19
In doing so we are fulfilling our God-ordained purpose for living. "We
count not ourselves to have apprehended: but this one thing we do, forgetting
those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which
are before, we press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of
God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
He alone is God, and He has chosen to make Himself known. He has elected
to reveal Himself. And so we read,
"For you have magnified Your word
above all Your name." Psalm 138:2
Why is the Word above His Name? His word reveals Him more than His name.
God wants us to focus our attention both on His essence and on His expression.
God both exists and manifests.
In Jesus Christ His expression was so complete because the Word was God
Himself, shining forth in the face of Jesus Christ.
"
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined
in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in
the face of Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 4:6 Knowing that we are called, we pursue Him.
"For
our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned
like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able
even to subdue all things unto himself.
Philippians 3:20-21 We have an assurance that cannot fail, because our
hope is consistent with God's own desire.
