INTRODUCTION TO KING DAVID:
God is seeking to release a people unto Himself.
Psalms 56:10-13 "In God will I praise his word: in the
Lord will I
praise his word.
(11) In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do
unto
me
(12) Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
(13) For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my
feet from "! falling, that I may walk before God in the light
of the living."
The occasion: David fleeing Saul in a spirit of
fear.
David sought refuge in heathen land and even feigned madness.
In the continued, unique processings of God in the life of the believer,
as we seek to go into perfection we often find that the circumstances and
situations can be so contrary to the glory set before us.
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher
of our faith;
who for the joy
that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is set
down at the
right hand of the throne of God."
Note the contrast of joy and the Cross, and yet for this Jesus could say:
John 12:50 "And I know that his commandment is life
everlasting: whatsoever
I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak."
"
And I know that His commandment is Life through the ages. "
Sometimes caught up in revelation and standing in awe... ask; "How
shall this
thing be?"
We come to a place where God causes us "to know" and that goes beyond
the realm
of thinking:
Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power that workgth in
us."
When He reveals, He is not baiting us or tantalizing us, but He is
imparting
the true vision of what He is going to do regardless of where I am or
what
I am at the present time.
Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing,
that he which
hath begun a good
work in you will perform it unto the day of Jesus Christ."
Response: I will render praises unto thee. He truly is delivering our
soul
from death.
Romans 8:6 "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be
spiritually
minded is life and peace."
II Corinthians 10:5 "Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ. "
Very often we fight contradictions: anti-words:
Hebrews 12:3 "For consider him that endured such
contradiction of
sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
"
Hebrews 6:13-17 "For when God made promise to Abraham,
because he
could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
(14) Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will
multiply
thee.
(15) And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
(16) For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation
is
to them an end of all strife.
(17) Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of
promise
the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath."
Genesis 15:1-15 "After these things the word of the Lord
came unto
Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy
exceeding
great reward. (2) And Abram said, Lord God,
what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my
house
is this Eliezer of Damascus.
(3) And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one
born in my house is mine heir.
(4) And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall
not be thine heir; but he that shall come out of thine own bowels shall
be thine heir.
(5) And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven,
and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto
him,
So shall thy seed be.
(6) And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for
righteousness.
(7) And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of
the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
(8) And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit
it?
(9) And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a
she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle
dove, and a young pigeon.
(10) And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst,
and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
(11) And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
(12) And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram;
and
lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
(13) And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a
stranger in a land that is not their's, and shall serve them; and they
shall afflict them four hundred years;
(14) And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and
afterward
(15) And thou shall go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in
a good old age.
