The ten sons of
Israel
sought for bread or substance during a time famine presented themselves before
Joseph, who was a type of Christ. He released a certain portion but required
of
them one thing. His request and condition was this:
Gen. 42:17, 20 And Joseph said unto them the third day “This do and
live.. vs.
20 ..bring your youngest brother unto me.”
A word was spoken through Judah (or praise that brings forth realization of
what is required) upon their return to their father:
Gen. 43:3-5 Judah spoke and said.. “The man did solemnly protest unto
us,”
saying, “You shall not see my face except your brother be with you..”
Joseph knew his brothers but his brothers did not know him. The challenge of
our sonship is to be like Him as we see Him as He is. Benjamin, unlike the
rest
of his brothers, was Joseph’s full brother having the same father and mother.
God is seeking for the manifestation of heavenly Jerusalem through a people.
This is a people knowing that Christ is in them as the hope of glory.
(1Cor. 15:49, Gal. 4:22-26, Heb. 12:22-25, Col. 1:26-27) A manifestation of the
character and nature like unto Son of God is heavenly Jerusalem.
ICor. 15: 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also
bear
the image of the heavenly.
Going back to Genesis chapter forty-two verse twenty-four, there is a
significance in the fact that as to why Joseph kept Simeon, whose name means
“hearing,” with him. It is in our hearing that we take up the promises. It is
of the utmost importance that we pray for the fine-tuning of our hearing. And
when we hear His voice we must not harden our hearts in order that the
transformation can take place. The trumpets of God’s true sons of God
manifesting are making His sure sound that there might be a gathering of
whosoever is willing to obey. If we mishear then we are not being
instructed on how to put on Christ making no provision for fleshly existing.
(Roms. 8:1,5,8,12-14, I Cor. 15:15, Gal. 5:13-25, Gal. 6:7-8, I Pet. 4:1-6,
John 6:63)
It also takes an examining of ourselves as to what caliber of sons are we
manifesting. What I have been hearing of the Lord is that He is seeking for
a “quality” of sonship. This is a people preparing themselves by the mandates
He dictates. Moses was told, “see that you make all things according to the
pattern shown to you in the mount.” The pattern was shown on the mount of
transformation as the only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Heb. 8:1-6,
Matt. 17:1-8, Mark 9:1-8, Luke 9:28-36) But is has been also stated that
He is
the firstborn of many brethren. Rom. 8:28-30
There were two men named Saul who were of the tribe of Benjamin in scripture.
The first was Saul, son of Kish, the second was Saul of Tarsus. The first Saul
was made Israel’s first king. His outward man was considered to be choice &
goodly and he was tall of stature. But his downfall was in his acts of
disobedience. He sought to move beyond the scope of his calling. He made a
sacrifice in a prophet-priest capacity that was not given to him. He started
out small in his own eyes and humble but pride rose up in him. (I Sam.
9:1-2,
15-21) His pride caused him to be more desirous to please the people rather
than only seeking to please God. He did not slay utterly as he was commanded
of God. This cost him not only his kingship but ultimately his life.
(I Sam. 13:1-14, 15:1-28) We too can be stripped of our call if we do not obey
the Word of the Lord in the crucifying of the
flesh He exposes in our lives. This Saul started out in a humble demeanor, but
became proud. We must humbly seek for the manifestation that births true
sonship. This brings us to the life of Saul of Tarsus as a son of the tribe of
Benjamin. His beginnings were the exact opposite of King Saul. He was a man who
breathed out threats against the Christians. Yet in a direct encounter with the
Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus, transformation occurred and he
became
a different man. He even changed his name to Paul which means “little or
small.”
Pride was turned into humility. He not only saw the light but he heard the
voice.
By realization he gave place to the power of God that had arrested him
and was delivered in that he feared God. As a direct result of reverencing
God
he became a mighty man of valor as a true son of God. Sonship involves both
seeing and hearing God as a divine encounter. We would all do well to examine
the
life of this man of God in the scriptures to know what is quality and
substance
in the eyes of our Lord. We all must choose to be made in the pattern that
the
Lord has laid before us. Praise the Lord! *For more information on this topic
