God, in His Word, uses many different kinds of images to describe what He
is perfecting in His people. He is preparing a Body in which He will be
glorified as the Head, with every member fitly framed and joined together:
members in particular, yet one Body. 1 Corinthians 12:27, Ephesians 2:22
We are joined together for a habitation of God through the Spirit. Ephesians
5:30 - says that we have been made flesh of His flesh, and bone of His bones.
We are described as a Temple, not made with hands, a habitation for Himself
by the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:1 We are called a garden that He has planted,
and He, the Husbandman, waits patiently for the precious fruit of the earth.
(James 5:7)
He is preparing us as vessels of gold and silver for the House of God, refined
and precious in His sight. We are to carry the incense and the oil of His
presence to the world around us. He is perfecting Sons, in His own image
and likeness, that in us He might be well pleased.
We are called branches and He is the vine. Each image and symbol, in its
own way, shows a particular aspect of the glory of God, which works in our
lives.
God continues to prepare and adorn us as a Bride for His Son so that we
might share that intimate relationship with Him that His heart has determined.
A Bride that is worthy of Christ, a Bride that expresses His fullness.
Christ is the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the
fullness of him that fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:22-23) The Bride is going
to be ready. We are going to be prepared. Therefore, because God is gathering
a unique people, He has sent forth a word and a ministry to gather and prepare
the kind of a people that He wants.
We, among many, are such a people - servants of God who have heard what
the Spirit is saying, and are declaring that living Word. We have become
a voice that is revealing Jesus Christ. It is not something that we have
imagined out of our own hearts. It is something that originated in the heart
of God. It is His intention and His desire to bring it into being, and therefore
He has declared it.
We know, that nothing that God says can fail to come to pass, and He is
preparing a transformed people, a Bride. "So shall my word be that
goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto
I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)
It is the Holy Spirit that is preparing a Bride for Christ and the Holy
Spirit dwells in us. Christ who lives in us can speak through us, and work
through us. We are members of His body, the Bride that He is preparing,
but we are also servants engaged in the process of preparation.
"For the whole body is fitly joined together and compacted by that
which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure
of every part, which produces increase of the body unto the edifying of
itself in love." (Ephesians 4:16)
God desires to be glorified in His saints... in a Body that is thoroughly
joined and knit together, a Body that has come "unto the measure of
the stature of the fullness of Christ: "
For us it is a hope and an aspiration, for God it is His Will to reveal
the substance of His identity. God is sending forth a word and a ministry
to call out and prepare the kind of a people that He wants. We are such
a people, servants of God who have heard what the Spirit is saying, and
are declaring a living Word in the Earth. By grace and the determined will
of God we have become, among others, a voice for the Lord.
People need to hear a voice. Our words need to be powerful enough to transform
the hearer so that they respond with - yes, that's what I want. "And
let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water
of life freely." Jesus said: "He that believes on me, as the scripture
has promised, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."
(John 7:38-39) Out of our belly shall flow rivers of living water.
It flows out from the reality of our life revealing the inner process of
the Spirit. 'The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring
of wisdom as a flowing brook." (Proverbs 18:4) "With joy you shall
draw water out of the wells of salvation." (Isaiah 12:3)
The world is awaiting the manifestation of the sons of God because it is
here, in life, that the victory must be won and demonstrated. It is here
that His purpose will be worked out in the lives of His people. We must,
in reality and experience, walk out the revelations and truths that have
been revealed in us by His Word. "If we live in the Spirit, let us
also walk in the Spirit" (Galatians 5:25). It is necessary first to
see and understand what God is doing. But, we must also walk in what we
have seen. Revelation must become reality.
Our spiritual eyes can see the promises, but our feet have to walk them
out. His purpose is a lamp unto our feet and we are candles that have been
lit to provide light for others. Such is the nature of our ministry.
